There are no times when it is easy to create art. However, The students and staff of the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, Sofia have proven that there are no times that could stop us to share and inspire the human spirit through the arts! The story began with our desire to encourage medics and patients to fight Covid-19 pandemic. “Jerusalem Dance Challenge NATFA” is realized on the idea of ​​Dr. Yana Dzharova, screenwriter and director is Prof. Dr. Velimir Velev, choreography is by Prof. Dr. Velimir Velev and Dr. Alexander Mandjukov, and the video is by Dr. Krassimir Stoichkov.

The following students took part in the video: 1st year – Theater of Movement – Pantomime (Prof. Dr. Velimir Velev) and 1st year “Acting for puppet theater” (Prof. Jeni Pashova), graduates of the class of Prof. Plamen Markov, as well as students from other classes. Employees of the Academic Library and Archive, Strategic Development and other departments of NATFA also participated. The idea was supported by many of the Academy’s teachers, in person or indirectly. The video you are watching was shot by 2nd and 3rd year students of the Faculty of Screen Arts under the guidance of Dr. Krassimir Stoichkov.

The “Jerusalem Dance Challenge” started from South Africa at the end of 2019. In less than a year, it has been performed, distributed online and shared among people around the world. It is becoming a global expression of empathy, support and solidarity during the fight against the pandemic.
